What's Girl Scouting like?

Girl Scouts is a unique organization made just for girls. It is unlike any other group that you can join. As a Girl Scout, you will have lots of chances to learn new things, make new friends, and figure out what is important to you! You will also find out how to make your neighborhood, your country, and the world a better place to live, work, and play. But most of all, you’ll have fun!

How old do you have to be to join?

Any girl between the ages of 5 and 17 can become a Girl Scout, and you can join any time during the year! You may participate in Girl Scouting as part of a troop, camp, or interest group, or you may be an individual Girl Scout (a Juliette).

There are five age levels within Girl Scouting:
Daisy Ages 5 - 6 or grades K - 1
Brownie Ages 6 - 8 or grades 1 - 3
Junior Ages 8 - 11 or grades 3 - 6
Cadette Ages 11 - 14 or grades 6 - 9
Senior Ages 14 - 17 or grades 9 - 12

How do you join?

We will need some information from you to place you in a troop, like your name, the county you live in, your school, grade, and contact information.

Please call us at 478-935-2221 or 1-800-868-4475, and we will connect you to the Field Executive who serves your area.

You may check the Contact section and e-mail or call your Field Executive directly.

What do Girl Scouts do?

There are so many things to do!

Troops can earn badges and participation patches through a variety of activities, take field trips, camp with your troop, have sleepovers, attend Girl Scout camp, do service projects for your community, and much, much more!

Girls discuss and decide within their troop what types of activities or projects they wish to work on, or you may choose a badge or event you want to do yourself.

Girls from the Brownie age level and up may also participate in the annual Cookie program.
